30 Days of Photographs II - Day 1

Welcome to 30 Days of Photographs II, a month of self-inflicted insanity in which a bunch of bloggers have opted to participate in publishing a photo a day from April 1st to April 30th.  This picturesque project was spawned by Ziva of Ziva's Inferno and BonyMike (a.k.a. MikeWJ) of Too Many Mornings, who also hatched a list of themes (while under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol, no doubt)  upon which each daily photo is to be based.  So, without further ado, here is my submission for today's theme:

Silence

To be honest, I had no idea of how to photograph "silence".  It was tough.  But while I was pondering a possible subject of today's theme, I was gazing upward into the branches of that tree and suddenly noticed that there wasn't a sound to be heard.  It was eerily silent:  Not a bird chirping, a bug buzzing, a dog barking, nor a car passing.  There wasn't even a hint of a rustling breeze.  What surprised me the most was that I couldn't even hear the normally continuous white noise of the nearby ocean whispering in the background.
