30 Days of Photographs II - Day 6

Tragedy

As you can see,  The Experiment ended up in Tragedy.  I was rather optimistic in my small appliance repair skills, selecting all of the tools I thought would better assist me in this task.

But in my haste to test my mechanical mastery and the late arrival of a strange but endearing little beaver (he brought me a bouquet of pink flowers as an apology for his tardiness) and upon whom I bestowed the honour of "flipping the switch" as it were, I neglected to reset our surge protector.

Everything got a little fuzzy and confusing after the sudden bright flash of light and boom, but the last thing I clearly recall is seeing the beaver reaching for the electrical outlet with plug in one hand, still holding the bouquet of flowers in the other.

When I woke up this morning, what I found is what you see in the photo.  I also discovered that my attempt at this minor repair project caused an island-wide Power failure, leaving the entire population of the island in the dark and without cable or internet access until late this morning, hence my tardiness in publishing today's photo.

I couldn't find hide nor hair of the beaver.

From an Ant's Perspective

"The Reeboks are coming!  The Reeboks are coming!"

Don't ask.

I have no idea.

Really.

I was totally stomped stumped for today's theme.

30 Days of Photographs II - Day 2

Architecture

"Look up ... look waaaaay up!"

This is not the photo I was expecting to publish today.  It was supposed to be a picture of the butt-ugliest eyesore on this island and, sadly, the tallest building on this rock:  The proverbial zit-on-the-nose on prom night ugly.  It's so architecturally bland that it would have Frank Lloyd Wright turning in his grave.  Even sadder is the fact the original plans for the site called for two towers (fortunately, the project ran out of funding and only one was built).

Alas, I've been so busy lately that I wasn't able to get a picture of that non-architectural wonder.  Your welcome.

Instead, I present a last minute shot of the rectangular pyramid one would see if standing in the foyer of our house, looking upward.  It's so high that a giraffe could easily fit inside the entrance and still have enough headroom to don a ten gallon hat.  Our house, so I'm told, was designed and constructed by a merchant marine that dabbled in recreational boat building, and has many unique and sea faring features, the most prominent being the use of teak paneling throughout and the teak plantation doors.  Did I mention the guy was a boat builder?

It's not a Ghery nor a Wright but our house, both visually and structurally, has withstood some forty-plus years - not to mention several hurricanes -  and will probably survive another forty.

30 Days of Photographs II - Day 1

Welcome to 30 Days of Photographs II, a month of self-inflicted insanity in which a bunch of bloggers have opted to participate in publishing a photo a day from April 1st to April 30th.  This picturesque project was spawned by Ziva of Ziva's Inferno and BonyMike (a.k.a. MikeWJ) of Too Many Mornings, who also hatched a list of themes (while under the influence of copious amounts of alcohol, no doubt)  upon which each daily photo is to be based.  So, without further ado, here is my submission for today's theme:

Silence

To be honest, I had no idea of how to photograph "silence".  It was tough.  But while I was pondering a possible subject of today's theme, I was gazing upward into the branches of that tree and suddenly noticed that there wasn't a sound to be heard.  It was eerily silent:  Not a bird chirping, a bug buzzing, a dog barking, nor a car passing.  There wasn't even a hint of a rustling breeze.  What surprised me the most was that I couldn't even hear the normally continuous white noise of the nearby ocean whispering in the background.

Due To Intestinal Difficulties ...

Ah, yes.  I've been away far too long.

Rather than regale you with tales of my gastronomic woes of these past several months, suffice it say that, where I was once looking to gain about ten pounds, I am now looking to gain twice that amount.  (Sorry Jayne, but I think it can now be clinically proven that my ass is, in fact, smaller than yours.  Not that that's a good thing.)

And, as my luck would have it, just as I'm feeling better I'm starting to come down with a head cold. Apparently one can sneeze while asleep.  Who knew?

C'est la vie.

Even though my blog stats have basically flat-lined (Well, no shit Sherlock - you haven't posted anything in three months), I have not.  I have been be-bopping around the blogs now and again trying to keep up to date, and commenting when my moods aren't putting the theatrics of Linda Blair in The Exorcist to shame - which is to say I've rarely commented at all.  Be thankful.

In order to get back into the swing things here in the bloggerhood, I've decided to commit suicide by camera join the shooting gallery in the upcoming "30 Days of Photographs II", brought to you by Ziva and BonyMike, which links will provide you with all the details of this picturesque project (just because I am too lazy to reiterate them here and am trying to write this post in 2,500 words or less and because, really, no one wants to read a long post about nothing at all since I have a lot to do today including, but not limited to, cleaning the rest of the car, picking up "Murphy's" mom from the airport, feeding the dogs, changing a fuse in the car which requires the skills of a professional Cirque du Soleil acrobat since the damn fuse box is located under the dashboard on the driver's side, doing laundry, securing Brutus while I'm out so that he doesn't further damage is healing leg after he ran out in traffic chasing a cat and got run over by a minivan, and taking a shower - but not necessarily in that order.  Oh shit, and taking some pictures of course.).

Anyone is welcome to join this insane scavenger hunt.  As for the time of day the photos are to be posted, you'll have to figure out that one on your own - I'm still confused, but then I'm so easily confused.  No worries, I be on Bahamian Time:  When it reach.
